-History of Nishijin-
Nishijin Ori or Nishijin Textile is a general team of Sakizome (prior dying of thread before cloth is woven) textile. It has been designated as a national traditional crafts. Nishijin Ori can trace its origins back to 5th - 6th century, but the base of Nishijin textile making as industry was established after the Onin War (1477), dispersed textile workers returned to Kyoto to resume textile production.
Since then, Nishijin Ori has been known as the weaving method used for creating beautiful and elegant patterns using dyed threads, which are found in luxury Obi (KIMONO SASH BELT)
